Bernie was brought in by Clare Connor OBE, England & Wales Cricket Board’s head of women’s cricket. "Optimising performance in all environments is Bernie's speciality and his expertise in the ‘chemistry of communication’ offered us that opportunity," said Connor, a former national team captain and the only woman ever to be elected to the Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Conference (ICC). "Bernie looked at the different personality types that make up our squad and has given the coaching staff and players’ valuable feedback to maximise the strengths of our different personalities." His previous experience in cricket included advising the West Indies and Pakistan men's teams and as a playing member of the MCC.
